Blessing marks construction of new Kaiāulu o Kūku′ia affordable housing and Bezos Academy preschool

Hundreds of Lahaina fire survivors are now settling into Maui’s first affordable housing project since the 2023 fire disaster.

The grand opening and blessing of Kaiāulu o Kūku‘ia Thursday morning marked an emotional milestone in West Maui’s recovery, becoming the first newly built, permanent multifamily affordable housing project to open for local families since the August 2023 wildfires.

Residents moving into the complex say there's no feeling like finally having a home.
